SURVIVOR CYBERSPACE: OUTWIT OUTLAST OUTDELETE
Interesting story in PC Magazine entitled "Can Email Survive?" In general, the article discusses the ups and downs of email in 2003. The money quote:
According to a recent study by Ferris Research, a San Francisco firm that follows the messaging market, users waste an hour each week managing their e-mail. And only 9 minutes of that hour are related to spam and viruses.
Since email has basically eliminated the use of the telephone for short (and not-so-short messaging and information exchange), the exponential rise in the use of spam blocking software has consequently caused the loss of information when non-spam email is blocked as well. For example, many of the "spam originator lists" blacklist entire ISPs for blocking. If a client or colleague is using that ISP for their email service, the spam blocking software would keep the email from reaching you.
