InfoWorld: Siemens to show protoype PenPhone. Tired of pushing tiny buttons to key in text messages on your mobile phone? Siemens AG has developed a prototype phone in the shape of a pen that allows you to write letters and numbers on any surface and enter the data directly.

According to MobileTechNews, the details of the phone will be announced at the CeBIT show in Hannover, Germany running from March 18-24, 2004.  CeBIT focuses on IT equipment and services.

According to InfoSyncSiemens' PenPhone is a tri-band mobile phone, which actually looks like an oversized ballpoint pen. The device is 140 mm long and is 19 mm in diameter. The PenPhone features handwriting recognition, suitable for both number dialing and writing text messages.
