regional jet sharing may finally come of age and be useful
From BarryBlog comes a link to a new upstart service called DayJet. Barry has this to say:
Someday in the near future, DayJet will introduce an on-demand air taxi service that will match seats on private airplanes with your destination. And as the site says "All at a price comparable to that of an overnight stay (including airfare, hotel, and per diem)."
If they can pull it off at that cost, count me in. The whole regional air-travel empire (or fiasco) is reaching the stage of absolute meltdown as far as I am concerned.
I don’t think video-conferencing is a viable solution yet, so the idea of easier regional travel would be revolutionary as far as I am concerned. I just hope they will offer the service in one-off markets that are not currently served by decent air service for regional flights. The concept of flying into DFW in order to get to anywhere in Texas, Arkansas, Kansas or Missouri is getting old really fast – anymore, if it is within 500 miles – me and my iPod are hitting the road.
